Spain Is The Fifth Country With The Highest PropTech Investment Globally

Spain is still at the forefront of global PropTech. The national market of startup focussed on real estate is expected to raise around $900M this year, according to the PropTech Global Trends 2022  report published by the Escp Business School and the Principality of Monaco. 

This would place Spain in the Top 5 of Global PropTech, behind the US (the indisputable leader in PropTech that will capture over $400.000M), the UK ($5.905M), India ($1.963M) and South Korea ($1.493M).

“India accumulates a great trajectory in the startup sector and has generated great talents for decades in the technology sector while South Korea, that arised as an importante player in the Pacific in the 1990’s, has Yanolja, one of the best performing PropTech firms in 2022; finally, Spanish companies have also been opening rounds with the goal of increasing PropTech funding”, states the report.

According to the Escp School and Principality of Monaco, Spanish PropTech captured $290M in 2022, which made it the eighth country in the world with the highest investment within the sector. The US led the charts again with $14.064M. South Korea got the second place with $1.789M, pushed by Yanolja, a digital platform specialising in hospitality real estate. It was followed by India ($871M), France ($600M), UK ($446M), China ($341M) and Canada ($290M).

With regards to the largest investors in the market, Softbank led PropTech investment in 2022, with 1.800M invested. It was closely followed by Capital One, with $1.400M invested. Furthermore, other relevant investment players in the sector over the last year include Capital One, Fifth Wall, Ribbit Capital, Saluda Grade, The Gores Group, Silver Lake, UK Export Finance, Founders Fund or Brookfield Asset Management.
